About Norhm Lee, Ph.D.
For some thirty years the author was licensed in the State of California as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor (MFCC), now referred to as Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). And, before acquiring his professional license he was a student volunteer with such groups as the American Friends Service Committee (Quakers), the Mennonites, the World Council of Churches, Friends Neighborhood Guild, Watts Summer Festival Board of Directors, and worked and taught at Central Juvenile Hall with the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
During the turbulent years of 1963-1973 he worked with the Los Angeles United School District, Division of Adult Education, and was Associate Director of the Department of Special Educational Programs at the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a teacher-counselor in the Venice Skills Center, Watts Skills Center, and the Saugus Urban Residential Training Center, and taught math and English in a Middle School in Watts, CA.
Writing under his nom de plume for the first time, this is his twelfth published book, which expands upon his dedicated focus on wellness and quality of life issues people face in their everyday lives. Dr. Lee has offered counseling over the years through non-profit, social and community organizations, and privately, but still does not consider himself an ‘expert’ on relationships.
Born in Georgia in 1934 and raised in Savannah, he completed high school in Philadelphia, PA, earned a bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Cheyney University of Penna., a Master of Arts in Religion from Yale University, New Haven, CT and a doctorate in Urban Education (Curriculum & Evaluation) at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has lectured and traveled around the world and is the recipient of many awards, including six honorary doctorates.
“Ask Dr. Lee” has been a feature of his Web Site on wellness at www.organicwellness.com. He is a Natural Hygienist (fruitarian) who sees a correlation between how/what we eat/drink/believe and what “health complaints” we experience as life progresses. He is married, is the father of three, the grandfather of nine, lives in Los Angeles, and jogs 2 1/2 miles 2-3 times a week.
